Giggles Creature Reacher Costume Giggles Creature Reacher Costume – He's One Evil Looking Clown

For many people Clowns are fun but they are also a little creepy looking. In fact, I would say the idea of the evil clown is a very post modern convention as it seems to be interpreting something that might have been taken for granted before and attempting to get under the skin. Why does the clown wear a mask, what is he hiding ? He must be up to no good. 50-60 years ago people didn't ask these questions. He was just a funny looking guy that did funny things, usually at a circus but even at places like Rodeos and bull fights to add a bit of comic relief. Well, the Giggles Creature Reacher Costume makes no pretensions about being funny. He has finally cracked and hes got evil on his mind. He's one scary looking clown.

More on the Giggles Creature Reacher Costume

This creature reacher costume consists of a over sized mask and hands. In the left hand Giggles is holding a pistol. Yes, he really has cracked this time but the pistol looks kind of comical. You suspect that if he fires it a flag will pop out with the words bang written on it.

Around the hands and mask is your typical clown outfit. This includes a ruffle collar and harlequin patterned sleeves. He doesn't have the big old clown shoes but you could buy a pair to get the added affect.

Whether you get the shoes or not, the mask makes the costume and will disturb and fascinate people. It is a large mask that will make you taller than most people. This will give you a grotesque or deformed appearance.

Giggles Creature Reacher Costume maskThe face on the clown is incredibly detailed and realistic looking. It has the classic clown makeup of white face with harlequin shaped patterns on the face. It has the bright read lips, rouged circles on the cheeks and the red nose. Giggles is smiling like you might expect a clown under the big top to do as he juggles some balls or trips over a box but take a closer look at those eyes.

There is no smile in the eyes. His eye brows are set in a hell bent squint. His crows feet and under eye bags hint at his distress. And if that wasn't enough the sharp, pointed teeth are a give away that this is not your average fun loving clown.

The mask is finished off with the three clumps of red hair pointing out from the face.

More on Clowns

I think people are vary of clowns nowadays and are more likely to cast them as a villain (think about Sideshow Bob for instance) because it is such a bizarre look. But from it's roots in Western Europe during the middle ages (and even longer in some parts of Asia) it is a plausible get up. Court Jesters and the like had to apply crude and over the top makeup to stand out and point out theta they were only playing the fool. In feudal courts, it was often the jester or clown that could poke fun at the king without getting his head lopped off. So he has to look outlandish and a buffoon, which is what the makeup and costume made him. As social comment and comedy comes in many forms nowadays, not least in films and TV shows, this role of the clown may have passed.
